Hi there! my name is April Wilhelm. I am 18 years old and just graduated June of 2010 from South Whidbey High School located on Whidbey Island where I grew up. I have lived there my entire life until I moved here to Bellingham in September. Whidbey is a small Island about two hours away. Many people like to describe it as a hippie town, which I can’t really argue with, but its one of those places where when you live there you literally know everyone and you can’t leave the house with out seeing someone you know. It’s a very tight community. This did make it hard to move away to somewhere with no familiar faces. I was accepted to Evergreen State in Olympia, but decided to wait a year to finish my AA which I started in high school doing running start. Next year I hope to attend either Seattle University or Evergreen State, where I will study Business, Psychology, Philosophy, or environmental science. I only have one sister, who I really look up to, who is now getting her masters in acting at the actor’s studio in New York. I am a huge coffee addict and I can’t live without it! I spend lots of my time Crafting and making things, I have been a serious horse back rider for 10 years, but recently have had to stop, so I just try to find things to fill the void. I learned how to play guitar but I’m not very talented, but I have done a bit of acting and singing as well, which I enjoy a great deal. I’m pretty easy going, just looking to make some new friends and enjoy my time here in Bellingham.
I do a good amount of writing, which mostly consists of notes. I like to write down things that people say, ideas, quotes, things that catch my attention. I like to write down what I’m feeling when I don’t want to talk about it, because it helps me understand my feelings better and when I write it down I can go back to it later and reflect. It really helps me let out steam when I’m angry or frustrated to just write. There are times when I am bad at communicating so if I didn’t write I think that I would just blow up with emotion. When I’m in class enjoy writing opinion papers, just because it’s a chance to say what you think, no judgments.
