Hey there my name is Jessica Figueroa. I was born in Michoacán, Mexico. I came to the United States when I was only 5 years old and I have been raised in Bellingham ever since. I am an only child although I do have two half siblings that live in Mexico with my dad and his wife. I am a senior at Meridian High School and I am very looking forward to graduating this year. I enjoy meeting new people because I’m very use to it. I’ve been to about 7 different schools since elementary. I strongly enjoy listening to music; it’s one of my favorite hobbies. I work at a Mexican restaurant that my parents have recently opened on Northwest. I love to write but I don’t like writing essays, I mainly like free writing where I don’t have to have a certain structure or follow certain rules. I speak fluent Spanish and hope to work as an interpreter sometime soon. I am very shy at first, but once I get to know you I’m actually very outgoing. That’s all I have to say at the moment.
The kind of writing I use the most is texting. I text pretty much all day, every day. I also write essays for school since I’m still in high school but I usually hate writing those because we always have to write about subjects I’m not interested in. I text a lot of people all throughout the day it keeps me from being bored. I text at school, after school, pretty much anytime I can. Although texting is fun, a lot of the time I don’t use the correct grammar and that influences my writing when I have to write something formal for school. A lot of the time I feel like I don't make sense to others who read my writitng but that could just be me. I hope to gain a lot from this class and I'm very excited to see what this quarter will bring!
Hope to get to know each and every one of you!
