Hello everyone, I’m a new student to Whatcom Community College. I’ve been living in Bellingham for the last seven years now and have grown very fond of the “small town” feeling of it. I think part of the reason I like the slower paced feel of Bellingham is because I spent the majority of my youth in Port Townsend, a town where the graduating class is usually around one hundred and fifty students. Before I moved to Port Townsend I lived in Ontario California but I think my parents got tired of painting over the graffiti on our house ever other week. (There was a hint of gang activity in our neighborhood.) For the last seven years I’ve been bouncing from restaurant to restaurant learning recipes and cooking for hungry patrons but I’ve found that the restaurant profession if quite taxing on the body. Another hobby of mine aside from cooking has been working with on or around computers so once I decided I no longer wanted to cook for a living I enrolled here in WCC to get a computer science transfer degree.
As far as writing is concerned I don’t do a whole lot of it. The most consistent form of writing I do would probably have to be texting. I text on a daily basis and don’t really know anyone who doesn’t. I use texts as a means to keep in touch with old high school friends that I don’t have luxury to see on more than just the occasion, to ask my roommate to pick up milk on the way home, to check in with my girlfriend if I’ve been out for a while. I use them all the time. (Except in class of course) One thing texting could get in the way of is driving I suppose, which is why I don’t do it. I honestly cannot even think of how my life would be different without it which is a little ironic because I don’t think I sent a text until I was seventeen years old.
