PART I
My full name is Svetlana Vladimirnova Golovach. I was born in Ukraine on November 10th, 1992. I had come to America with my family when I was two years old and have been living here ever since. I speak three languages which are Russian, Ukrainian and English. My favorite animal would definitely be a Penguin! I am also currently going to Squalicum High School and am 18 years old. I am also currently employed at the Comfort Inn hotel on Guide Meridean. It's always nice to have some spending money here and there. A few of my hobbies would be playing the piano, ( I give lessons to a 10 yrs old girl), I love to sing and am obssesed with painting and drawing. Painting is truly one of those things I do constantly, even if I had tons of homework. For my career goal, I am hoping to become an OB/GYN doctor but i'll probably become an OB/GYN nurse first. Good luck to me huh!
PART II
I love writing in my diary! That is basically the majority of the writing that I ever do. I have about 20 diaries or notebooks laying around that I had filled up over the years. I guess the main reason why I write in a diary is because it's a place that I know is sacred and only for me to read and know exactly what is in there. I love it because I can pour my heart out and all my thoughts and feelings and it makes me feel like I had lifted a weight off my chest. Aside my diary, I do text alot because I'm just very addicted! Aside all of my writing, I am greatly looking forward to all of the writing assignments we will have to complete. I am sure that by the end of this quarter I will become a stronger writer as well as reader. I am also looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you!

Welcome

Welcome to our Eng 100 Blog “Standing Ovation”! The title of this blog refers to the audience of active readers we are creating by sharing our academic writing for Eng 100 with a larger group of students, instructors, academics, and just about anybody who chooses to follow our blog! When you write and post your reader responses here (and, later, as you write your essays for the course), I encourage you to use this audience to conceptualize who you are writing for and, most important, how to communicate your ideas so that this group of academic readers and writers can easily follow your line of thinking. Think about it this way: What do you need to explain and articulate in order for the other bloggers to understand your response to the essays we’ve read in class? What does your audience need to know about those essays and the authors who wrote them? And how can you show your readers, in writing, which ideas you add to these “conversations” that take place in the texts we study?
As students of Eng 100, you will use this blog to begin conversations with other academic writers on campus (students and instructors alike). We become active readers of each other’s writing when we comment on posts here. And, best of all, we are using this space to share ideas! I encourage you to use this blog to further think through the topics and writing strategies you will be introduced to this quarter. As always, be sure to give credit to those people whose ideas you borrow for your own thinking and writing (you should do this in the blog by commenting on their post, but you will also be required to cite what you borrow from your peers/instructors if and when it winds up in your essays. More details on that later).
Finally, keep in mind that writing to and for this audience is a good way to prepare for the panel of readers (faculty at WCC) who will be reading and assessing your writing portfolio at the end of the quarter. I hope that as a large group of active readers, we can better prepare each other for this experience. But, in the meantime, let’s have fun with it!
