education

When Robinson says that creativity is just as important as literacy, I think he is saying that it is not sufficient to merely give people the ability to read and write. Reading and writing gives us the ability to communicate, but communicating without creating is limiting the value and function of communication, because cultural progress will stagnate. When we develop our literacy alongside our creativity, that is the optimal path of achieving the full potential of the value of communicating. Robinson claims that dancing is just as important as Neuroscience, I think by this he is not valuing them equally on the plane of what grander social role they play, whether Neuroscience curing diseases in the future isn’t more useful than the cultural value of the arts. I think he is valuing them based on their educative role pertaining to personal differences in different types of skill sets. So, in order to produce a best education system address and maximizing all skill sets, each skill set must receive equal consideration, and thus be equal.
