Silent dialogue

Both Gatto and Robinson advocate for education reform and in order to do so, the whole structure of schools needs to be reprioritized. Instead of requiring a certain level of math and English to be completed in order to graduate or move onto other classes, it should be what each student is interested in, such as art, dance, etc. It encourages creativity because it gives students a chance to pick their own path and think all on their own. They give themselves their own direction which will increase the amount of creativity one produces. If this were to happen, the people that would benefit the most out of it would be the students. Since they aren’t being forced into anything, they will have more of a reason and desire to learn new things and expand their education. Nobody likes to be told what to do and how to do it on a daily basis, so why not allow students to do what they like. The more you like something, the more you’re going to want to do it.

  1. Sick nasty, totally agree with you got to say. But what are some possible problems with us only choosing what we want to do?

  2. I agree that when someone isn't being forced to do somethingthey will take more pride in it and their understanding of it will be better. How would we do this kind of teching in schools?

  3. I wonder though how having such a system of education would change the balance and structure of our society over the long-run, what will happen if we run out of workerbees, etc.
